Funeral Blues is fucking unholy. The drum fills caused my intestines to spill out. Based on the tracks released to date, I’m predicting AOTY contender. Hail Satan!

I’ve known about the Crooked Whispers since shortly after their debut album, Satanic Melodies, was released back in 2020. I love the slow, heavy riffs, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the vocals. That being said, the riffs on this album are as solid as ever, and this is yet another great addition to the Ripple Family.
Favorite track: Suicide Castle.

A bit more vicious and sinister than the usual Ripple fare (not a bad thing!). Reminds me a bit of New England's Black Tomb in that vicious, evil doom sound. Like a sonic equivalent of Evil Dead. I dig it!

A true ode to darkness, the eight tracks from The Crooked Whispers' new album are brimming with evil riffs, occultism and horror stories inspired by black magic books. Sonic influences include Black Sabbath, Venom, Death SS, LaVey's "The Satanic Mass", Lucifer's Friend, Thergothon, and Burning Witch. Made up of of musicians hailing from the United States and Argentina, the satanic psych-doom trio were nominated as Best New band in the 2021 Doomed And Stoned Awards.

Vitskär Süden's debut was one of my favorite albums of 2020. After spending a week curled up with their follow-up, I can confidently say that it is even better. It's not as immediate as the predecessor, but the songs keep unfolding and opening with each listen, and the end result is a thing of beauty and joy. In other words: this is really really goddamned great.
